Sponsor and/or Visitor “Background Checks” Required
Summit Camps is committed to providing a safe and positive Christian environment for your group to attend camp.
In order to make every effort to protect all students/children that attend our camps, this year Summit Camps is again requiring that each church perform criminal background checks for all sponsors and visitors 18 years of age or older attending with their group. Below we would like to offer a recommendation of a service provider for these checks. This provider charges a nominal fee for their services; check with the service provider for pricing verification.
Churches are NOT required to use the recommended service provider and may choose any reputable provider of background checks of their choice. The organization listed below has been used by other BGCO Camps and is provided as a means of convenience and easy reference.
Background checks are run by service providers on behalf of the churches. The church will be responsible for the information contained in the reports and maintain it in privacy. Summit Camps will not seek possession of, nor view the reports. What Summit Camps will require is the Background Check Compliance Form, which warrants the checks have been run on each individual. We will however check to make sure that every adult that you bring to camp has a background check listed on your Compliance Form. This form is attached and on our website at www.summitcamps.org . You will find also find a link for the following option on our website. Summit Camps will honor background checks for 18 months from the date of the check so they could actually be good for two camp years depending upon when you complete them. Each church will need to follow the link and set up an account with Shield Screening if they are the provider you choose to use.
OPTION #1:

The volunteering Adult Sponsors named below are known to the staff or recognized leadership of the participating church and the church knows of no reason why any should not serve as a sponsor for children and youth under the age of eighteen (18). The participating church warrants that it has used the service provider listed below to perform nationwide criminal background checks that
include a check of the National Registry of Sex Offenders on all Adult Sponsors and/or Visitors. Participating church warrants it has run these checks within the last 18 months (from date of camp) and further verifies that it has brought no Adult Sponsor not listed on this form. Also any Visitors 18 years or older MUST have a background check as well.
